The KindMind Rebuild: What Changed for Classic Users

This article began as the March 28, 2026 announcement of KindMind's rebuild. The original message asked classic readers to wait for migration instructions. That waiting message is now out of date.

Updated September 13, 2026: the new KindMind is at www.kindmind.com, and classic readers can start the migration flow. The original version is at classic.kindmind.com. If you are unsure which account to use, contact hello@kindmind.com before creating another account or subscription.

The biggest change is how entries are stored

The rebuild moved journal encryption onto your device. Your entries are encrypted before they are stored, and we do not hold the key that decrypts them. That changes what a copy of the stored content reveals and what support can do if you lose access.

Your password and recovery key matter because recovering an account and decrypting older content are separate concerns. Save the recovery information presented during setup. The encryption explanation describes how those pieces fit together.

A different place to write

The journal became a continuous page, with today's writing and earlier entries in the same space. You can scroll through your history rather than opening a separate page for each date. The rebuilt journal remains free.

The launch article describes the current product and pricing. This post keeps the context for readers who remember the earlier version.

Guide and journal memory are separate choices

Guide offers an ongoing AI conversation. Its conversations can contribute to memory. Journal memory, in Account → AI features, separately controls whether journal entries contribute summaries too.

Turning Journal memory off stops new journal summaries; earlier memories remain until edited or cleared. The AI privacy page explains the request path, provider retention, and safety records. Encrypted storage does not mean that text sent to hosted AI avoids processing outside your device.

Moving your existing writing

Use the migration flow to connect your classic account and move supported data. It handles the account handoff and encrypts imported content on your device before storing it in the new system.

You do not need to buy another subscription to investigate the move. If the account or billing information looks wrong, stop and contact support so it can be checked. Avoid assuming that every historical offer or availability promise in an old announcement still applies.

Questions about the transition can go to hello@kindmind.com. Include the account email and a description of the issue, without sending private entries or a recovery key.
